Search
by Property Type and Size
When Site Profiler first launches, users are presented with a variety of search
options. Users can conduct a broad search of all properties in the area or
narrow their search down to these categories:
·
Available Commercial Space
· Available Industrial Space
· Commercial Business
· Industrial Business
· Vacant Land
To receive the broadest range of hits, use the "Any Size" option when searching for square footage and click "Search Properties."
Map
Function
When you select a property, a map of that area will appear on the left side
of your screen.
View
layers of information
This tool allows you to view buildings, zoning, business incentive zones,
educational institutions, public parking, public transportation, traffic counts,
and aerial photographs. To view layers of information on the map, go to the
area below the zoom scale and select a category by clicking on it. Check the
information on or off and then click the "display" button.
Zooming
in and out of the map
Under the map is a scale of circular buttons. To zoom in or out, use the buttons
on the scale.
Moving

To pan the map in a direction, click on any of the North, South, East, West,
Northwest, Northeast, Southwest or Southeast arrows surrounding the map.
Search
by Community, Industry, Incentive Zone, or Public Transportation
Users may conduct a business search by community. To search by community, simply click on the box next to the community or communities you wish to search and click "Search Properties." You may also search actively marketed properties.
In addition, users may search by industry or specific NAICS code (a link is provided that takes you to a NAICS code description Web site.) To search by industry, click on the drop-down box and highlight the industry you wish to search, then click "Search Properties." For specific NAICS code, type the code in the box and click "Search Properties."
Similar to searching by community, users may search businesses within a specific business incentive zone, or businesses that are located within 1/4 mile of public transportation simply by clicking on the box next to your desired search and then clicking "Search Properties."
Search by Name, Parcel Number
or Address
To search by business
name, enter the business name. Then click on the "Search By Name"
button.
To search by parcel number, type in the parcel number of the property you want to view. Do not omit any hyphens. Then click on the "Search by Parcel" button.
To search by property address, type in the street address of the property you want to view. To increase your chances of a successful search, do not include the street suffix. For example, type in 10 Main, as opposed to 10 Main Street. Then click on the "Search by Address" button.
Selected Properties
After selecting a search, the user is presented with a list of properties
on the right meeting the criteria chosen, and a map on the left indicating
the relative location of each. At any time, the user may change the map view
by selecting Buildings, Zoning, Business Incentive Zones, Educational Institutions,
Public Parking, Public Transportation, Traffic Counts, or Aerials (the default
choice) by clicking any of the check boxes below the map. Use the navigation
buttons just below the map itself to move left or right, up or down, or to
zoom in or out.
To receive immediate information on a property identified by a numeral on the map, make a selection on the right and click.
Once your selection has
been made, you may choose among three tabs for more information. The default
tab provides information such as Parcel Id, Building Type, Street Address,
Property Use Code, Parcel Acreage, Distance to Nearest Major Roadway, Distance
to Interstate, etc. The two other tabs provide options for researching demographic
data or create a report displaying other nearby businesses.
Obtain Demographic Data
Site Profiler allows you to create reports to help understand the market characteristics
of a particular site.
After selecting a property,
click the "demographics" tab located near the top of the page. Select
the type of report desired from the pull down menu (demographics, consumer
expenditures, business & workforce.) Next, type the distance around the
property that you want the report to cover. Then click the calculate button
and a report will be created.
Create a Business Report
Site Profiler will generate reports that list businesses around a particular
site sorted by industry category.
After selecting a property,
click the "businesses" tab located near the top of the page. Next,
type in the distance around the property you want the report to cover. Then
click the "calculate" button and a report will be generated. The
page will list the businesses around that property by industry category. The
businesses will be mapped by color as well as displayed as a list on the report.
To view only one industry category, click on the underlined link in the report
area. This will generate a report showing only the businesses in that category
on the map and a list of the business names with addresses.
Click on the Pictometry logo on the "Selected Site" tab to view actual photographs of selected properties.
Pictometry is a patented imaging process that captures georeferenced, high-resolution oblique (at an angle) and orthogonal (straight down) digital images of selected regions. Combined with interactive software, users can see everywhere, measure anything, and plan everything.
After clicking the Pictometry logo, an interactive imaging
window will open.

In the
left hand column, users have access to multiple images of the same property
taken from different angles (oblique and orthogonal) and directions (N, S, E,
W.)
On the
top-left portion of the main image frame are the standard “movement” tools of
Pan, Zoom, Full View, Fixed Zoom In, and Fixed Zoom Out.
Users
have the ability for more detailed zooming, both in and out, with the zoom tool
located to the right of the main image.
Also to
the right is the ability to select three different size options. The bigger the
size selected, the greater the area that the main image will encompass on your
computer screen. These size options are located at the bottom-right portion of
the main picture frame.
In
addition, this imaging application gives users the ability to perform
measurements of area, distance, and height. These tools are located in the
top-right portion of the main image frame.
Area
Click on the “Measure Area” tool,
then left click your mouse once in one of the four corners of the area you are
measuring. To define the rest of the area box, simply drag your mouse to the other
corners, left clicking once at each corner. During the operation, the area measurement
will appear in your defined area

Distance
Click on the “Measure Distance”
tool, then left click once at the starting point of your distance and drag your
mouse to the desired distance, left clicking once at any point to obtain a
measurement.

Height
Click on the “Measure Height”
tool. Unlike the other two measuring tools, left click and hold at the
starting location of your measurement and then drag up or down to obtain a
measurement.

Finally, users have the
ability to obtain additional images and information of the selected property
through either Google Maps or Windows Live Local by clicking on the drop-down
menu located at the bottom-left portion of the main image frame. Once the
desired application is selected, you will need to click on the “Go”
button.
